Is it safe to pay a deposit before treatment abroad, and how much is asked upfront?
A clinic abroad wants a deposit before my treatment. Is that money safe, and what share of the total is usually paid upfront? I have never visited the clinic in person.

Hello, many clinics that accept international patients may request a deposit before treatment to reserve the surgery date and operating room. This is a fairly common practice, and the amount paid is usually deducted from the total treatment cost.
What matters is not that a deposit is requested, but the reliability of the clinic requesting it. Before making any payment, I recommend that you review the clinic's and doctor's official records, patient reviews, and accreditations; ensure that the payment is made to the corporate bank account, and that the deduction of the deposit from the total fee and the cancellation/refund conditions are stated in writing.
In general, the deposit rate may vary between approximately 10–30% of the total fee at most clinics. It would also be wise to approach with caution any place that pressures you to pay quickly, asks you to send money to a personal account, or does not provide written documentation.
